Corman Arts

Deborah Jane Batt

Although my paintings have become increasingly non-objective over the eyars, all my work still originates from the idea of community, the towns we build, the cities and the way we shape and destroy each rural landscape.

I hope to show within the limits of non-objective painting, the shape of the environment as it changes, diminishing in one direction, growing in another.

Non-objective artwork is an exercise in geometric abstraction, space related to shape.  My subject being the painting itself.  Non-objective art explores the potential of abstraction, the shape, brush mariks, colours, tones, lines and texture.  This lets the viewer respond emotionally to the painting.  My vocabulary of communication is the fusion of colour and structure.
