Margaret Cahill
Margaret works in oils on canvas incorporating photographs into the painted surface to create paintings of vast atmospheric spaces with a sense of memory and moment. These isolated empty backdrops contain the possibility of narrative and meaning yet remain illusive. They present situations that may appear straightforward but have an unsettling edge. The work explores the boundaries between different levels of reality - between absence and presence, ambiguity and fact - in paintings which are both meditative and jarring.
